Winnipeg Jets 5 Nashville Predators 0 – For the first time this season the Winnipeg Jets have won back to back home games. The Jets rode a four goal first period and a 41 save shutout by Ondrej Pavelec to their seventh victory of the year. They evened their home record at 5-5-1 as they started a stretch of six of eight games at MTS Centre. Sunday the San Jose Sharks are the visitors. (TSN Jets, TSN 1290) For the second straight home game, Bryan Little opened the scoring with assists to Andrew Ladd and Blake Wheeler. It was Littles ninth of the year and 16th career game winning goal. He has now scored seven goals in the past nine games. Coach Claude Noel put that line back together for the third period of Wednesdays game in Chicago, and elected to leave them together on the basis they have played together a lot over the past few seasons, they enjoy playing as a unit, and perhaps looking for their leadership to put some consistency into the Jets game. Olli Jokinen would make it 2-0 3:43 later and 1:36 after that Eric Tangradi would score his first of the year to make it 3-0 and chase Predators goaltender Carter Hutton. The goal came off a slap shot from the point by Dustin Byfuglien, and for most of the night was Byfugliens first of the season. But the goal was further reviewed post-game, and it was ruled that Tangradi did get a piece of the shot. Devin Setoguchi scored his fourth of the season before the period was over. Setoguchi is on a three game point streak (2-2-4). Jokinen had a two point period while Keaton Ellerby picked up his first point of the season. For goaltender Marek Mazanec it was his first NHL action. The Predators came out a little angry to start the second and fired 15 shots at Pavelec and crashed the net at every opportunity. Jets Coach Claude Noel felt they were fortunate to come out of the second with the 4-0 lead. The third period was controlled more by the Predators as they outshot the Jets 17-9. It was not an easy shut out for Pavelec, in fact that is the most shots he has faced in his 11 career shutouts. It was his first shutout against Nashville and his first of the year. Little would add his second of the game to put him at 10 in the first 18 games. It was his 16th career two goal game, and he does have one hat-trick. Ladd has assisted on seven of Littles 10 goals this season. "This is not going to last all year but I will enjoy it for now," said Little after the game. He is on pace for a 45 goal season. His previous high was 31 in the 08/09 season in Atlanta. Going back to last year, in the 31 wins the Jets have recorded the Ladd-Little-Wheeler line has combined for 106 points. In the 35 losses they have combined for 53 points. Coach Noel was quick to say he did not consider this a response game for Pavelec, but just another game. "He was very good. We gave up some quality chances," said Noel. "It was not necessarily a clinic but well take one of these." The Jets have been involved in nine one goal games. Jokinen won 14 of 22 face-offs for a 64% success rate while Little led in shots with five. Ladd, Jokinen, Little and Wheeler all had two point nights. The three first period goals came in a span of 5:19. Evander Kane was back in the lineup after missing the last two games. He played 16:16, with three shots on goal, another four that missed the net, and one assist, while playing on the line with Jokinen and Setoguchi. The power play was zero for three and has fallen to a single digit success rate, while the penalty kill was four for four and is operating at over 90% in the past 13 games. Over the last seven games the Jets have killed 21 of 22. Jets were again minus Paul Postma, Mark Stuart, Jacob Trouba and Jim Slater due to injury, while Anthony Peluso and Zach Redmond were healthy scratches. Trouba did join his teammates on the ice at the morning skate, but there is no timeline for his return. Dale Hunter Jersey . Icardi is living with the ex-wife of former teammate Maxi Lopez, and the Sampdoria forward refused to shake Icardis hand before kickoff. Walter Samuel and Rodrigo Palacio also scored for Inter while Lopez had a penalty saved. Brooks Laich Jersey . -- Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday for the first time in his seven-year career because of a swollen muscle in his left upper back. http://www.authenticnhlshopcapitals.com/authentic-brooks-orpik-capitals-jer… McLaren MP4-30 was launched on Thursday, with chief executive Ron Dennis saying it marks the start of a lengthy journey back to winning grands prix and eventually world championships.McLaren, which hasnt won a grand prix since 2012, will be using Honda engines for the first time since 1992, and has signed two-time world champion Fernando Alonso to partner Jenson Button for the upcoming season. Justin Williams Jersey .com) - The Vancouver Canucks will try to win two straight games for the first time since mid-January on Monday night as they play host to the struggling New York Islanders. Jaromir Jagr Jersey . As if the individual strands of grey hair or the increasing amount of joint pain werent reminders enough, the impending end of Jeters career is a slap-in-the-face indicator of a generations fleeting youth.DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Rory McIlroy hit wedge into 5 feet for birdie on the 18th hole for a 2-under 70 to regain the outright lead in the Dubai Desert Classic on Friday. The chief challenge for McIlroy came from an American -- but it wasnt Tiger Woods. Brooks Koepka, who earned his European Tour card last year by winning three times on the Challenge Tour, made seven birdies against no bogeys for a 65 that left him one shot behind McIlroy going into the weekend. Woods, meanwhile, hit only four fairways and had to rely on some key putts to salvage a 73. He was in a tie for 44th, eight shots out of the lead. McIlroy was at 11-under 133. He appeared to be in control at Emirates Golf Club, leading by three shots after his birdie at No. 10. But he drove wildly into the waste area on the par-5 13th and the par-4 16th holes, both leading to bogeys, before recovering on the 18th. "It was nice to birdie the last and at least give myself a one-shot lead going into tomorrow," McIlroy said. "I will just go back tonight and sort of regroup and realize I am still leading the tournament. I was more frustrated on the back nine, as the back nine is where you want to build your score after playing the harder front nine." Danny Willett of England, who began his week by jumping out of a plane at 4,000 metres (13,000 feet), had a 65 and shared third place with Damien McGrane of Ireland (70) and Julien Quesne of France (70). Henrik Stenson, who won the Race to Dubai and the FedEx Cup last year, had a 67 and was four shots behind. Woods, trying to join Ernie Els as the only three-time winners of the Dubai Desert Classic, opened with a birdie on his third hole and the highlights were few after that. His only other birdie was on the par-3 11th, with a shot into 2 feet. Instead of going to the practice range after his round, he conducted a clinic with Mark OMeara. "I was on so many parts of the golf course today that I got to meet so many people, signed so many autographs out there and gave a lot of balls away," Woods joked with the crowd. "Seriously, I was justt hitting it sideways.dddddddddddd" He even joked about the 79 he shot last week at Torrey Pines to miss the 54-hole cut on a course where he had won eight times previously, including a U.S. Open. "I have to tell everyone here I never made a 10-footer for not shooting 80," Woods said. As for his round on Friday, he said he putted well, but had too many putts from 40 and 50 feet, which is "not exactly the best thing." "I just didnt hit it close enough and didnt hit it well," Woods said. "I struggled with it and had a bad warm-up, as well. Just one of those days." Koepka is in his first full season on the European Tour. He came close to winning the Frys.com Open last autumn in America before struggling on the back nine. He is roommates in Florida with another American on the European Tour, Peter Uihlein, who bogeyed his last hole to miss the cut. "Winning is winning," said Koepka, who has four Challenge Tour wins. "Ive been able to do it on the Challenge Tour, so hopefully I can get it done with week." It should be more difficult with McIlroy, a two-time major champion, starting to regain his form. McIlroy ended a year without winning in December when he edged Adam Scott at the Australian Open. He finished one shot behind in Abu Dhabi two weeks ago. "Im leading the golf tournament. Ive been in this position before and Ive went on to win," McIlroy said. "Ive led from the front quite well in tournaments that I have won. I feel like I am still playing well and I know the course just as well as anyone else. Im now expecting to go out there and shoot two good scores over the weekend and hopefully lift the trophy." Willett, along with his wife and caddie, began the week with an assisted sky dive on Monday in a charity event. He feels it might have helped with his golf. "If you stand on the first tee, trying to hit a drive into the fairway seemed a little bit less nerve-racking than jumping out of a plane at 13,000 feet," Willett said. "You never know, might have prepared us quite well."
