ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Mike Aviles had a nice sacrifice bunt in the sixth inning that didnt result in any runs. One inning later he swung away with great results. Aviles hit a three-run homer during a five-run seventh, Corey Kluber went 6 2-3 effective innings, and the Cleveland Indians stopped a seven-game road losing streak by beating the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3 on Friday night. "Mikey always plays the game," Indians manager Terry Francona said. Cleveland got solo homers from Asdrubal Cabrera and Michael Brantley. Kluber (3-3) allowed two runs, nine hits and had nine strikeouts. Jake Odorizzi struck out a career-high 11 and gave up five hits in five shutout innings for the Rays, who have lost six straight at home. "Its just bittersweet that we couldnt pull it out," Odorizzi said. The Indians were 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position against Odorizzi. "It was hard to get things going early in the game," Aviles said. "We werent able to get that big hit when we needed it. We were able to get it later in the game." Brantley homered off Joel Peralta (1-3) before Yan Gomes hit an RBI single and Aviles had his three-run shot off Brandon Gomes as the Indians went ahead 6-2 in the seventh. "The game score didnt really reflect the way the game was played for the most part," Francona said. "We put together one really good inning." For the fourth straight game, the Rays staged a serious ninth-inning threat. David DeJesus had an RBI double off John Axford with two outs that made it 6-3. Ben Zobrist then walked to load the bases, ending Axfords night. Cody Allen entered and got a fly ball from James Loney on a 3-2 pitch for his first save. "Its a crazy game," DeJesus said. "We get the winning run on every night and we havent been able to pull it out. We just got to keep going." Cabrera, coming off a four-hit game in Thursdays 9-4 victory over Minnesota, had a leadoff homer off Brad Boxberger in the sixth that pulled the Indians within 2-1. Cabrera finished with three hits and a walk. After Loney hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth, DeJesus put the Rays up 2-0 on a fifth-inning RBI double. "Primarily, we have not hit," Rays manager Joe Maddon said. "I mean, you look at the bullpen and we had one bad inning tonight, but weve scored 10 runs in the last four games." Rays shortstop Yunel Escobar left after the second inning with a bruised right thumb and is day to day. X-rays were negative. Maddons challenge of a double play in the first inning resulted in the call being overturned when a video review determined that Zobrist beat the relay throw at first. NOTES: The game took 4 hours, 10 minutes. ... Aviles has eight homers against the Rays, his most off any opponent. ... Indians 2B Jason Kipnis (strained right oblique) has been cleared to swing a bat this weekend. ... Cleveland DH Jason Giambi (strained right calf) is working out with the team and says he feels good. ... Tampa Bay CF Desmond Jennings, who went 1 for 15 in his previous three games, was rested. ... Cleveland INF Elliot Johnson accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Columbus. ... The Indians gave no indication of appealing to MLB a scoring call that gave Cabrera a double in the eighth inning Thursday. If he would have been credited with a triple in his final at-bat, it would have given Cabrera the cycle. "Im not too sure that it isnt a triple, but Im not positive it is either," Francona said. ... Indians RHP Zach McAllister (3-2) and Rays LHP Erik Bedard (1-1) are Saturday nights scheduled starters. Thomas Vermaelen Jersey . -- LeBron James warned the Orlando Magic to stop double-teaming him and ignoring James Jones. Ousmane Dembele Jersey . Bjoerndalen, who had failed to win any major race for two years before Sochi, writes in a Facebook entry that he is "full of energy and inspiration" after winning the 10-kilometre sprint and mixed relay at last months Olympics. Venus Williams advanced to the ASB Classic final in Auckland on a walkover when fellow American Jamie Hampton withdrew from their semifinal Friday with a right hip injury. Sergi Roberto Jersey . -- The Anaheim Ducks have signed left wing Dany Heatley to a one-year deal, returning the 33-year-old unrestricted free agent to the Pacific Division. Custom Barcelona Jerseys . Jamies number grades given are out of five, with five being the best mark. Steve Mason, Philadelphia (4) - Mason was brilliant all night long with save after big save on Benoit Pouliot, Carl Hagelin and Derick Brassard.Nick Diaz got a hug the other night, out of the blue. A male fan came up to the oft-prickly UFC fighter on the street and showed him some love. Somebody just walked up and hugged me, Diaz recalled. I figured I know this person, I live in a small town. Then it was like I dont know this person at all. Ive got to deal with that. The 31-year-old bad boy from Stockton, Calif., wasnt really complaining. Pressed on the issue, he conceded the happy stranger was a nice guy and a huge fan. He gave me the hug first before he told me that, Diaz said with a laugh. But he was really excited, he really was a big fan. And I appreciated he wasnt weird or nothing. He was just a fan. It speaks volumes about Diaz that the former Strikeforce champion attracts such a following despite often refusing to play by the rules and showing a snarling persona rather than a smile. There are two kinds of Diaz watchers: those who applaud his I dont give a damn attitude and those who tune in hoping he will have the trash talk beaten out of him by his opponent. For the UFC, thats two fan bases in one and helps explain why it keeps going back to what amounts to a six-foot walking headache. UFC president Dana White was reaching for the aspirin again this week when Diaz failed to show up for a public workout session Wednesday ahead of his UFC 183 showdown Saturday with former middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Its the first fight for the 39-year-old Silva (33-6) since he suffered a gruesome leg injury in a loss to title-holder Chris Weidman at UFC 168 in December 2013. Diaz (27-9-1) had elected not to get on his scheduled flight, the UFC later explained. The fighter landed in Las Vegas later Wednesday but not before White tweeted a photo of a milk carton with Diazs face on the side. White said this week that a film crew dispatched to Diazs home for the UFC Embedded video series had been unable to find him. This is a fighter who was pulled from a UFC 137 title bout with then-welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre after refusing to show up for press conferences. He once brawled with fellow fighter Joe (Diesel) Riggs in the hospital after their UFC 57 showdown. Diaz has also been suspended twice for positive marijuana tests.dddddddddddd Diaz told the Nevada State Athletic Commission after the most recent failed drug test that he had been prescribed a medical marijuana card to help deal with his ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). When Diaz did fight St-Pierre at UFC 158, he showed off his chatty side by launching into a stream of consciousness monologue of which White later said (In terms of) craziness, that was a 10 out of 10. He is a fascinating human being, very tough to figure out, White added. What most people care about, he does not. Hes a very unique individual. Younger brother Nate is equally abrasive. His signature win involved flexing his muscles and displaying two middle fingers while opponent Kurt Pellegrino was locked in a triangle choke. After losing to GSP, Nick Diaz had reporters and White shaking their heads when the fighter confessed: Ive never paid taxes in my life, Im probably going to go to jail. Diaz, a black belt in jiu-jitsu with slick boxing skills, has also admitted he doesnt much like fighting for a living. Its pretty rough. I dont recommend anybody to be a fighter, he said last July. Fighting is not something I enjoy doing. Its something I do that I feel I have to do and thats just the way it is. I dont like to hurt anybody, he added. Im a non-violent person. And yet when he is in the cage, he usually belittles his opponents with a torrent of trash-talk. Diaz, whose workout regimen includes triathlons, has fought at both welterweight (170 pounds) and middleweight (185). He says he walks around at close to 200 pounds and that making 170 has been pretty rough in the past. For all his quirks, the UFC Primetime show before his UFC 143 fight with Carlos (The Natural Born Killer) Condit showed Diaz as a loyal, single-minded athlete willing to dispense with the social niceties in search of excellence. Diaz often said he wants to be known as someone who who kept it real. But he does it while travelling a bumpy road. Like my lifes a mess, Diaz said in March 2013. Im not afraid to admit it. ——— Follow @NeilMDavidson on Twitter Cheap Predators Jerseys Cheap Jets Jerseys Cheap Ducks Jerseys Cheap Coyotes Jerseys Cheap Sharks Jerseys Cheap Canucks Jerseys Cheap Bruins Jerseys Cheap Sabres Jerseys Cheap Panthers Jerseys Cheap Canadiens Jerseys Cheap Senators Jerseys Cheap Hurricanes Jerseys Cheap Blue Jackets Jerseys Cheap Islanders Jerseys Cheap Rangers Jerseys Cheap Flyers Jerseys ' ' '
